Education and Covid-19.

                   Covid-19 virus  The COVID-19 pandemic impact is still being witnessed despite the goverment through its ministry of health abolishing the mandatory wearing of masks and restrictions to use the public properties.  The greatest effect was left on the education sector and the impact is now being felt on the ongoing Primary to secondary school transition of over 1.2M pupils who sat for their final primary school examination. The program on the expansion of the school infrastructure was halted due to limited funds that was caused due to COVID-19 impact of the economy and this has made the ministry to restrict the students admission in different schools due to limited space.  The ministry of health has instructed the head of top secondary schools to absorb more students from the public primary school leaving out the students who got high marks to join the average county schools. The Space Of ICT In Achieving Quality Education

Over the years the government has taken strides in ensuring quality education is given to every Kenyan child. One of the manifestos of the Jubilee government was introduction of laptops to primary schools. Though a very good project, it faced so many challenges that slowed its implementation. These challenges included lack of power in schools, lack of ICT trained persons among others. The project if implemented will bring a great change in our education as a country. With the world going global, there is a need to embrace Information Communication Technology (ICT) in our schools. ICT goes a long way in helping us achieve quality education. Opinion. More Infrastructure Is Needed In Our Schools.

Education is one of the pillars of our nation. Through education we get to acquire skills and specialize in different fields. This in turn helps us grow and build our nation effectively by having a diverse skill set. With this in mind we need to ensure education is easily accessible to all. Education infrastructure is one of the most fundamental requirements for ensuring educational accessibility. Good infrastructure in schools have the following characteristics: 1.Amount of space per child that is adequate, as determined by the ministry of education of the country. 2.Enough area in each classroom for 30 to 40 students. 3.Enough sanitary facilities separate for both boys and girls. 4.Learning facilities, equipment and resources. After COVID 19 pandemic with all the measures set, many schools lacked proper infrastructure. Opinion; The Government Should Employ More Teachers In Curbing Growing Education Need.

In a report published by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC), "EVOLUTION OF REGISTER TEACHERS FROM 1967-2019,  EVOLUTION OF REGISTER TEACHERS FROM 1967-2019 the Ministry of Education established an independent body (TSC) under Article 237 (1) of the Kenyan Constitution 2010 mandated to carry out teachers management functions in the country that includes, among others, register trained teachers, recruit and employ registered teachers and promote and transfer teachers.
